CSCA subjects and test format

CSCA currently covers Professional Chinese, Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry, with different language and duration rules by subject.

CSCA subject study materials for mathematics, physics, chemistry, and professional Chinese

The official CSCA introduction lists five subject rows: Professional Chinese for Humanities, Professional Chinese for STEM, Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry.

Professional Chinese is offered in Chinese only. Humanities and STEM each use 90 minutes, 80 single-answer multiple-choice questions, and a 0-100 score range.

Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry are offered in Chinese or English. Each uses 60 minutes, 48 single-answer multiple-choice questions, and a 0-100 score range.

What this means for applicants

English-taught applicants should not assume that every subject is available in English. Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry have English versions, but Professional Chinese is Chinese only.

The safest planning method is to start from the target university and program, then confirm which CSCA subjects and test language the program expects.
