Tianjin
Student city profile
Overview
Tianjin, a major municipality directly under the central government, is located just 30 minutes from Beijing by high-speed rail. With a population of 13.7 million, it is one of northern China's largest cities and a major port and industrial center. The city is home to Nankai University and Tianjin University, two of China's most respected institutions, both located in the Nankai–Tianjin University area — one of the most concentrated academic zones in the country.
Tianjin's continental climate brings cold winters and warm summers, while its colonial-era architecture, modern Binhai New Area, and proximity to Beijing make it a unique student destination. Living costs are significantly lower than in Beijing, and students can easily access Beijing's resources while enjoying a quieter, more affordable lifestyle.
