Shanghai Jiao Tong University (SJTU) is located in Shanghai, a major metropolitan area in eastern China known for its global economic and cultural significance. Founded in 1896 as Nanyang Public School, it is one of the oldest institutions of higher education in China, with a history spanning over a century. The university has expanded to include multiple campuses, such as Xuhui, Minhang, and Huangpu, offering a comprehensive range of academic programs across engineering, science, medicine, business, and humanities. SJTU has particular strengths in engineering fields, including mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, and computer science, as well as in medicine and biomedical research. It offers an English-taught MBBS program authorized by the Ministry of Education, with 30 seats available annually. The university supports a vibrant international community, with the International Student Center (ISC) facilitating admissions and services for over 10,000 international students from around the world.
