CSCA Guide for Indonesian Students

Indonesian students should treat CSCA as one part of a wider university application. Nationality does not determine your subjects or admission result. Your target university, degree program, teaching language, and scholarship route determine what you must submit.

What CSCA Does

CSCA is a standardized assessment for international students planning undergraduate study in China. Universities may use its scores for admission and scholarship review, but each institution sets its own requirements and score expectations.

Before registering, save the current admissions notice for every program on your shortlist. If a university page and a general guide differ, follow the university's written requirement or ask its international admissions office for clarification.

Choosing CSCA Subjects

The official CSCA subject set includes Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, and Professional Chinese. Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry can be taken in Chinese or English. Professional Chinese is offered in Chinese.

• Chinese Government Scholarship undergraduate route: Mathematics and Professional Chinese are required under the current general CSCA rules; Physics or Chemistry may also be required by the university or program.
• Chinese-taught degree: Professional Chinese is required under the current general rules. Confirm whether the program also asks for an HSK result.
• English-taught degree: Confirm Mathematics and any Physics or Chemistry requirement directly with the program. Do not assume Professional Chinese is required unless the university says so.
• Medicine, engineering, or science: The relevant university may add Physics or Chemistry. Biology is not a current CSCA exam subject.

Scholarship Routes

Language and Documents

Language requirements are set by the program. An English-taught course may request an English proficiency result or other evidence. A Chinese-taught course may request HSK or another form of Chinese-language evidence. A CSCA language exam should not be treated as a substitute unless the university explicitly says it is accepted.

Prepare a passport copy, graduation certificate, transcripts, language evidence, health documents, and any required translations or authentication. Make sure your name and date of birth are consistent across every document. Ask the university and the relevant Chinese visa office in Indonesia which originals, translations, and authentication steps are currently required.

1. Shortlist programs using official university admissions pages.
2. Record the teaching language, CSCA subjects, language evidence, deadline, and application fee for each program.
3. Confirm the scholarship channel separately on Campus China or the university site.
4. Register for only the CSCA subjects required by the programs you will actually apply to.
5. Prepare documents early and resolve spelling or translation inconsistencies.
6. Submit through the official portal and keep confirmation receipts.
7. Recheck admission, scholarship, and visa instructions before paying or travelling.
